Since Ypsilanti, North Dakota was first established, baseball was a part of the community, including both adult and youth teams.
In the summer, there was swimming, and other recreational activities a the Ypsilanti Park and, before the park was built, there was the Millrace.
Winters brought basketball. In high school, there were both boys and girls teams, and community teams were also organized, and well supported. Ice skating, roller skating and tobogganing have also been popular.
Dancing has been a year-round favorite, right from the beginning. Dances have been held the Old Town Hall, Memorial Hall, in barns, and in the streets of Ypsilanti, North Dakota.
People from the surrounding communities would often get together to play cards, whist being the most popular game.
