Eugene Oberlander

Eugene (Gene) was born in Medina, North Dakota. His parents were Mr. and Mrs. Adam Oberlander. Later, the family moved to Jamestown. Gene has been employed as a farmhand, grocery clerk, and truck driver.

Evelyn Kurtz was born at Spiritwood, North Dakota, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kurtz. She attended school in Winfield Township and, in 1939, moved with her parents to the Carl Mueller farm in Winfield Township.

Eugene and Evelyn were married in 1952, after which they lived in Jamestown for several years before moving to Ypsilanti. In 1982, at the time that the Ypsilanti Community Centennial Book was published, they were both employed at Arnies Truck Plaza in Jamestown.

They had three sons: Steven Miles, Timothy Kurtz, and Douglas Eugene.
