Floyd Orr was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1923, coming to the Ypsilanti community with his parents, M.D. and Helen Orr, in 1929. The Orrs settled in Corwin Township, in Stutsman County.
Ellen Nicholls was born in 1927, the daughter of Stanley and Ruth Nicholls, who were natives of the Ypsilanti community.
Floyd and Ellen were married in 1944 and, in 1946, they moved to the Corwin Farm, where they were both still living in 1982, when the Ypsilanti Community Centennial Book was published.
They had five children: David, Steve, Nancy, Lindsay, and Christine.
