From Iowa, Henry traveled with his parents to Milbank, South Dakota and, in 1916, the family came by immigrant train to the Ypsilanti, Stutsman County, North Dakota community.
Henry and Lena were married at Barney, North Dakota in 1923. They lived on a farm west of Ypsilanti for a time, then moved to a farm southwest of Ypsilanti.
Henry passed away in 1961, and Lena in 1973. They were the parents of two daughters: Irene, who married Bill Randall in 1942; and Lois, who married Lawrence Limesand.
