Marion Orr was born in Iowa in 1893, and spent his childhood there, as well as in different parts of Indiana and Oklahoma.
Marion married Helen Rigdon in 1915, and they moved to the Ypsilanti community of Stutsman County, North Dakota in the spring of 1929.
Marion and Helen Orr were the parents of eleven children: Maurice, Meredith, Robert, Francis, Floyd, Marjory, Fern, Virginia, Paul, Clifford, and Vonnie.
Mrs. Orr passed away in 1963. Marion married Louise Hoger, from Judson, North Dakota, in 1966 and, at the time that the Ypsilanti Community Centennial Book was published in 1982, they were still residing on the family farm.
