Andrew Anderson was born on February 26, 1863 at Dane Prairie, Wisconsin, the son of Ole Anderson. He married Mary Jinks, the daughter of Levi and Ursulla Jinks, who had been born on February 14, 1868. They were married in Osage, Iowa in 1889.
Andrew and Mary Anderson moved to North Dakota in 1907 from Osage, and rented a farm northeast of Ypslanti until 1911, when they built their homeplace.
They built the house in 1911, and the barn in 1913, using lumber bought at the Ypsilanti Lumberyard.
Andrew and Mary gave birth to six children: Verna Belle, Levi Oscar, Stella Anna, Arthur Clarence, Ora Andrew, and Laura May.
