Tom Thompson was the son of Olia Thompson. He came to Ypsilanti Township, Stutsman County, North Dakota, from Iowa in 1905, and settled on a farm one mile east and a half mile south of Ypsilanti. He was married to Semilia Bakken. They had three children: Clara, Clarence, and Signora.
Tom Thompson passed away in 1909. Shortly afterward, Mrs. Thompson moved into Ypsilanti and lived in the section house, where she took in roomers and boarders.
